Write your will for free
Having a will means that you can continue to support the people and causes you care about for generations to come. And here at Manchester, we believe that everyone should have this opportunity. That’s why we’ve partnered with Bequeathed to offer an exclusive service to help you write your will for free.
When you make your will, you’ll notice there’s an option to include a gift to the University.
There’s no obligation to do this and making your will is something you’ll want to think carefully about. Many want to remember their loved ones, which is only right. But after those closest to you have been looked after, you might consider remembering your university in this way too.
Leaving a gift in your will is one of the most powerful ways to make sure that your values live on after you’re gone and we can arrange that your gift is used in an area that’s special to you.
We’re so grateful for all of our incredible alumni and friends who have left a special gift to Manchester. From enabling life-saving research to helping students from all backgrounds access higher education, gifts in wills provide hope for a better and brighter world.
If you’ve already left a gift to Manchester in your will – thank you so much. We’d love to hear from you so we can say a big ‘thank you’ and let you know about all of the amazing things your support will make possible.
How it works
Bequeathed offers all Manchester alumni and supporters the chance to create a free will, with support from an accredited and experienced legal professional. Using Bequeathed is quick and easy, and can be done from the comfort of your own home in three simple steps.
Visit Manchester’s special page on the Bequeathed website and complete the online interview form.
This takes around 25 minutes, and your answers will help create your draft will. If you need any help, there’s lots of support provided online.
If you’d prefer to complete your interview over the phone or via a video call, please book your appointment here.
Have a free, 30-minute appointment with an accredited legal firm
Once you’ve completed your online or telephone interview, you’ll attend a free appointment with an accredited legal firm. You can choose whether to have a phone or video call and some firms also offer an in-person service if you prefer.
During the appointment the legal firm will make sure your will reflects your wishes and fulfils your specific needs.
Receive your will in the post, ready for signing and witnessing
After your appointment, the legal firm will send you your free will with instructions on how to sign and store it. Some firms may offer storage free of charge.
Things to know
If your will is more complicated, you might need to pay for legal advice. If this happens, you’ll be told about any fees straight away. You can then decide whether you’d like to proceed.
