Bicentenary Global Futures Scholarship
The University of Manchester is proud to offer awards totalling more than £3.5 million to international students starting their studies in September 2024, the year of our bicentenary.
The scholarship is open to both undergraduate and master's students holding an offer from the University.
- Evaluation will primarily be based on academic merit and the quality of your scholarship application.
- To be eligible for a Global Futures Scholarship, you must be normally resident in either the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or the United Arab Emirates. You must be self-funded (not sponsored) and assessed as ‘overseas for fee purposes’.
- To apply for the scholarship, you must hold an offer of a place to study an eligible full-time programme of study taught at The University of Manchester’s campus in the UK which starts in September 2024. You will then be required to submit an online application form which will be emailed to all relevant offer holders.

Undergraduate awards
The University of Manchester is proud to offer more than 110 merit-based undergraduate scholarships of £21,000 to international students from a selection of countries across the globe, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Please note the application form will only be made available to you once you have applied and received an offer.
Each award comprises £7,000 for the first year of study with a further £7,000 awarded in the second and third years of study, conditional on attainment of 60% average in each year. Scholarships will be awarded in the form of a discount on published overseas tuition fees.
Students must be taking one of the following qualifications:
- A Levels
- IB Diploma
- Indian Standard XII (CBSE, ISC, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Gujarat boards only).
Scholarship short-listing will be based upon academic excellence, predicted grades and your responses to questions in the online application form, which will be emailed to all eligible offer holders. Awardees will be selected based on academic merit though we may also endeavour to achieve a balance in the allocation of the awards by gender, domicile, qualification type and course of study.

- Applications will be considered from international fee-paying students domiciled in either Saudi Arabia or the United Arab Emirates.
- Applicants must be applying for direct first-year entry in 2024 and have, or be working towards one of the following qualifications: A Levels, IB Diploma, Indian Standard XII (CBSE, ISC, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Gujarat boards only).
- Applicants for the awards must have accepted (made ‘Firm’ via UCAS) a conditional or unconditional offer to study a full-time programme at Manchester and must submit an online scholarship application form by 23 May 2024.
- Students do not need their final results in order to apply for a Global Futures Scholarship. Where an applicant has not yet received their results at the point of making a scholarship application, academic merit with be assessed based on predicted grades from their school. These are likely to be based on the results of any previous tests or examinations.
- Applicants must be self-funded (not sponsored).
- Applicants for Medicine (MBChB), Dentistry (BDS), Architecture, or any courses with an integrated foundation year are not eligible for the award.
- Applicants who have previously studied at a higher education institution in the UK are not eligible for the award.
- Applicants for blended and distance learning programmes are not eligible for the award.
- The application form will be emailed automatically to all eligible applicants shortly after an academic offer is made.

Master's awards
The University of Manchester is proud to offer more than 130 merit-based master’s scholarships to prospective international students from a selection of countries across the globe, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The value of The Bicentenary Global Futures Scholarships for is £8,000; scholarships will be awarded in the form of a discount on published overseas tuition fees.
Please note the application form will only be made available to you once you have applied and been made an offer.
These scholarships of £8,000 will be awarded based on academic excellence and the quality of your responses in the online application form.

- Applicants must hold and have accepted a conditional or unconditional offer of a place to study an eligible full-time on-campus programme of study by 1 May, 2024.
- The application form will be emailed automatically to all eligible applicants shortly after an academic offer is made.
- Applicants must apply for the scholarship via an online form by 13 May, 2024. The link to the application form will be emailed to all offer holders.
- Applicants must have completed their bachelor’s degree and satisfied all academic and non-academic conditions of their offer by the 15 July, 2024.
- Applicants will be considered for the award based on academic merit and the quality of their scholarship application, but we will endeavour to achieve a balance by gender, domicile and course in the allocation of the awards.
- Applicants must be self-funded (not sponsored).
- Applicants for MBA, MPhil, Master of Architecture (MArch), Architecture and Urbanism (MA), Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA), Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), Clinical Medicine and Dentistry degrees are not eligible for the award. Some ‘Master’s by Research’ courses are also ineligible (see Terms and Conditions, below).
- Applicants for blended and distance learning programmes are not eligible for the award.
