Bicentenary Global Futures Scholarships
To celebrate its bicentenary in 2024, Manchester is proud to offer more than 200 awards to international students commencing their studies in September 2024. The total value of scholarships offered will be over £3.5 million, and awards will be open to prospective master’s students.
Master’s awards
The University of Manchester is proud to offer more than 100 merit-based master’s scholarships to prospective international students from a range of countries across the globe.
The value of The Bicentenary Global Futures Scholarships for students from Canada is £8,000; scholarships will be awarded in the form of a discount on published overseas tuition fees.

These scholarships of £8,000 will be awarded based on academic excellence and the quality of your responses in the online application form.

- Applications will be considered from international fee-paying students domiciled in Canada.
- Applicants must apply for the scholarship via an online form by 15 March 2024 and will be considered based on academic merit and the quality of their application. The link to the application form will be emailed to all applicants.
- Decisions will be made on the applicant’s performance in their bachelor’s degree.
- Applicants will be considered for the award based on academic merit and the quality of their scholarship application, but we will endeavour to achieve a balance by gender, domicile and course in the allocation of the awards.
- Applicants must be self-funded (not sponsored).
- Applicants for MBA, MPhil, Master of Architecture (MArch), Architecture and Urbanism (MA), Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA), Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), Clinical Medicine and Dentistry degrees are not eligible for the award. Some ‘Master’s by Research’ courses are also ineligible (see Terms and Conditions, below).
- Applicants for blended and distance learning programmes are not eligible for the award.

- Applicants for the USA awards must apply for the scholarship via an online form by 15 March 2024 and will be considered based on academic merit and the quality of their application. The link to the application form will be emailed to all offer holders.
- Decisions will be made on the applicant’s performance in their bachelor’s degree.
- Applicants who have applied to their academic course before the 31 of January will be eligible to apply for the scholarship without first holding an offer.
- Applicants who have applied to their academic course after 31 January must be holding an offer to study a full-time on-campus course at The University of Manchester before applying to the scholarship.
The Canadian Centennial Scholarship fund provides awards to Canadian students enrolled in a postgraduate programme at UK universities. More information is available on the Canadian Centennial Scholarship website.
The Government of Canada also has scholarships available.
Some of our Schools will offer small scholarships or bursaries; however, these do not usually cover the full cost of tuition and living expenses. Details will be advertised on the relevant School website if they are available.
