We’ve put together some advice on what happens after you've received your offer from us.
If you have any further questions about your offer, please contact the relevant admissions team.
Congratulations!
Information about your offer and any conditions will be communicated to you via UCAS. We can only confirm your place once you receive your exam results.
If you've already met the entry requirements for your course, we may have made you an unconditional offer.
The majority of exam results are received automatically. However, there are some examinations that you'll need to tell us about.
Read the ’Your results’ section below for further information.
If you have any questions about your offer, please contact the relevant admissions team.
Once you’ve accepted your offer, you’ll need to complete the Criminal Conviction Declaration (unless your course requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check).
You ‘ll receive an email with detailed instructions on how to complete this declaration.
Around six months before you’re due to register, and only once your place is confirmed, you’ll be asked to complete our Right to Study check. This is a compulsory check for all students. We’ll email you instructions on how to complete the check.
It’s vital that you complete these processes once your place is confirmed to register.
You may need to wait until you receive your exam results before we can confirm your place.
Results that we receive automatically
If you’re studying any of the following qualifications, we’ll receive an electronic copy of your results directly from UCAS:
- A-levels and/or AS-levels
- T Levels
- Most Applied General qualifications (e.g. BTECs and CTECs)
- International Baccalaureate (IB) (if given permission for your results to be shared with UCAS)
- Scottish Highers and Advanced Highers
- Irish Leaving Certificate
- Welsh Baccalaureate
- Access to HE
- Cambridge International (CIE) examinations
Results that you’ll need to tell us about
Where UCAS don’t provide us with your results, you’ll need to supply them to us by emailing high quality scanned colour copies or colour photographs of the official examination results transcript to the appropriate School/Department admissions team by 31 August.
Please note some Schools/Departments have an earlier deadline – this will be highlighted in your offer on UCAS hub. We must receive official copies as soon as you receive them.
If you expect your examination results to arrive any later than this, please contact the admissions team to which you have applied as soon as possible.
If you supply your results yourself, we may ask you to present the original paper copies of your transcripts/certificates when you come to register at the University.
If any of your certificates or transcripts have been issued in a language other than English, you should include with them official, authenticated English translations.
Official translations of qualifications documents are also a requirement of the UK government's visa regulations.
The translation should be on official letter-headed paper, clearly state that it is an accurate translation of the original, and include all the following pieces of information:
- The translator or translation company's name and contact details.
- The translator or translation company's credentials or qualifications.
- The date of the translation.
- The translator's full name and signature, or the full name and signature of an authorised official from the translation company.
The translation should be done by an official translator/translation service. We won't accept translations by agents unless the agency offers a recognised translation service and the translator can demonstrate appropriate credentials, for example NAATI, CATTI or NAETI. English language modules studied as part of the agent's degree course, for example TEM-4 or TEM-8, are not considered appropriate credentials.
We’ll review your results as soon as we receive them.
If you got the right grades
If you meet all the conditions of your offer, you’ll be notified by UCAS and our admissions team will confirm your place. You can check the status of your application via UCAS.
If your grades are lower than expected
If you narrowly fail to satisfy the academic conditions of our offer, we may still be able to confirm your place. This will depend on whether we have any places left on the course you've applied for, and whether we believe you're sufficiently prepared for the course. We may alternatively offer you a place on a different course. However, as many of our programmes are extremely popular, there will usually be little flexibility in considering lower grades.
Congratulations, you're coming to Manchester!
- You’ll receive official confirmation via UCAS and an email from us. In early September, you’ll receive an email about how to register.
- Before registering, you’ll also have to complete a Criminal Conviction Declaration and Right to Study check.
Discover more about becoming a student at Manchester on our Welcome website.
If you would like to request a deferral, please email your admissions team and include:
- your name;
- your UCAS personal ID;
- your UCAS course code.
If UCAS shows a change of course offer, this means we're unable to confirm your place on your chosen course but would like to offer you a place on an alternative course.
You can accept or decline this via UCAS.
If UCAS shows that you've been unsuccessful, unfortunately, we cannot offer you a place on your chosen course at Manchester.
We recommend that you check the UCAS website to see what vacancies are available at other universities, and you should ask for advice from your school or college on what to do next.
If your application is still showing as a Conditional Firm (CF) on UCAS, contact the admissions team in your School or Department.
Your decision could be outstanding for a number of reasons, so get in touch, and we can help with what to do next.
Releasing yourself into clearing means you're giving up your spot at Manchester, so make sure that's what you want to do before you decline your place via UCAS. You can self release your place via the UCAS hub.
If you're interested in a different course at Manchester, you don't need to decline your place; you can contact the relevant admissions team for the course you'd like to switch to and ask about your options.
